About EV Autoplay

Who runs EV Autoplay, what the blog covers, how articles are researched and checked, and how to reach the people who write them.

The short version

EV Autoplay is a blog, and the line under the logo, Electric driving, plainly explained, is the whole editorial brief. New articles go up when they are ready, and everything we have published stays available in the blog archive.

We started publishing after realising that the useful information about electric cars, charging, infotainment and driver assistance existed, but only in the heads of people who had no reason to write it down. EV Autoplay writes it down.

Who pays for this

Hosting and research come out of the same pocket that buys the things we write about. That keeps the running costs honest and the pace slow.

Where we stop

We are not the right place for advice tailored to your exact situation. EV Autoplay publishes general guidance, and the difference matters more than it sounds.

What is filed here

  • EV Charging. Home chargers, public networks and what a full battery really costs.
  • EV Ownership. Living with an electric car: batteries, servicing, insurance and resale.
  • Infotainment. CarPlay, Android Auto and the screens and apps inside modern cars.
  • Driver Assist. Driver assistance features, what they do well and where they stop.
  • Games. Video games and gaming, from what we play to how games connect to the rest of life.

Nothing gets filed under three headings at once. If a piece does not have an obvious home, that usually means it has not been thought through yet. The busiest sections are ev charging, ev ownership and infotainment.

How we work

Nothing here is written from a search results page. If we have not handled it ourselves or spoken to somebody who has, we leave the topic alone until we have.

We are not neutral about quality, but we are honest about incentives. Where money is involved, the page says so.

The full process, including corrections and commercial links, is set out on the editorial policy page.

Why this name

People ask about the name. There is rarely a good story behind a domain, and there is not one here either. EV Autoplay was available, it was short enough to say out loud, and it has been the name long enough now that changing it would be more confusing than keeping it.

The people

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every name links to a page listing everything else they have written.

Henrik Solvang, EV ownership writer. Henrik has driven electric cars since 2016 and logs every charge in a spreadsheet. He writes about ownership, batteries and resale, with real numbers instead of brochure figures.

Evander Szabo, In-car tech reviewer. Evander spent years in software QA before reviewing in-car tech. He tests CarPlay, Android Auto and dashboard apps the way he used to test releases, looking for the bugs drivers actually hit.

Desmond Kayode, Charging and infrastructure writer. Desmond is an electrician who moved into installing home chargers. He writes about charging, tariffs and infrastructure, and about what a safe installation should look like.

Corrections

Corrections go to info@evautoplay.com. Quote the sentence rather than describing it. We would rather log a visible correction than edit a page and hope nobody noticed, and the contact page explains the rest.
